Tennis elbow is chronic overload injury of the tendons that attach to the outer aspect of the elbow. Despite the name, most patients do not play tennis.
Common in patients performing repetitive gripping activities — desk workers using a mouse, tradespeople, and athletes. It is a chronic tendinopathy rather than acute inflammation.
If symptoms persist despite initial rest and simple measures, are severe, or are affecting daily activities, an assessment can help clarify diagnosis and treatment options. Bring any previous imaging or notes to your consultation.
Most cases resolve with activity modification, structured eccentric loading exercises, and ergonomic changes. Injections may provide short-term relief. Surgery is rarely needed.
